Newmerella Primary School opened in 1889 and is located five kilometres west of Orbost and nearly 400km east of Melbourne.
Newmerella Primary School has a current enrolment of around 97 students structured into 5 classroom groups with specialist teachers in science, music and physical education. Some students live in Newmerella, however most travel to school from Orbost, Lochend, Simpson’s Creek, Bete Bolong, Corringle and surrounding areas.
Our school has a vibrant and stimulating learning environment with modern attractive classrooms, a hall, art room, school library, resource and music rooms, outdoor learning areas, an oval, three adventure playgrounds, supergrass covered sports courts, native vegetation plantation, chook pen, pet rabbits, orchard and vegetable garden. We provide a comprehensive range of academic, social, arts, music, camps, sports, leadership, wellbeing, and environmental programs that cater for the diverse needs of all students.

Our school is an active member of the Far East Gippsland Learning Alliance (FEGLA) of schools that work closely together to improve teaching and learning and optimize academic, arts, social and sports opportunities for students and professional learning for staff. Lunch Break - 1.00 - 2.00pm
School Dismissal - 3.15pm
On normal days, teachers will be on duty between 8:00am and 4.00pm.
Children should not be at school outside these times.
